January 15, 2025 | Meek Resistsky | 1 Comment As we’ve noted, Trump picks his stances by the direction green pieces of paper are blowing in the wind. As a law banning TikTok is coming to fruition, we should reiterate he was critical of the social media app as a first-term president. He even attempted an executive order to shutdown the platform. But come election time, Trump made one of his notorious flip-flops. Despite the legislative branch making a TikTok ban a reality, and the Supreme Court upholding it, Trump is offering a potential extension and a possible revisit of a re-organization of ByteDance, parent company of TikTok. The legal standing of any executive maneuver by Trump remains to be seen. Teased by Trump, ByteDance CEO Shou Zi Chew has been riding the coattails of the second-time president-elect. On Saturday, he attended a reception for the incoming cabinet and a dinner for Vice President-elect JD Vance. The next day, he will attend a rally put on by Raul Fernandez, a major Trump donor. Chew has been invited to sit in a position of honor on the dais at Trump’s second inauguration, where former presidents, family members and other important guests traditionally are seated.
