January 3, 2025 | Meek Resistsky | Leave a comment Jeff Bezos is not laughing after a cartoon slated for print in his own newspaper depicted him pre-emptively kowtowing to Donald Trump. Bezos owns the Washington Post, so he didn’t take kindly when his own editorial cartoonist depicted him being owned by Donald Trump. The cartoon, by long-time Washington Post editorial cartoonist, Ann Telnaes, shows Bezos along with other tech moguls kneeling before Trump, offering tributes to Trump in the form of bags of cash. Also depicted is a befallen Mickey Mouse, representing Disney-owned ABC News. The Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist summarily quit after nearly two decades at the Washington Post after having her cartoon squashed. In a 21st Century decentralized media landscape, it’s ultimately triggered the ‘Streisand Effect‘. As demonstrated in this post, the cartoon has promulgated everywhere but the Washington Post.
